This month as we celebrate Independence Day, it is important to learn about an organization which defends the freedom of faith we have in this country. For those who keep up with politics and events, you are aware of the many cases going to court regarding religious freedoms: removing a cross from a public location, removing the Ten Commandments, allowing a student to include testimony in graduation speeches, and the list goes on. Many of these courts involve high profile attorneys and the money behind this makes the others feel they cannot defend themselves. However, there is an organization dedicated to protecting Christian beliefs in the United States courts.
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is an organization of attorneys founded by Pat Robertson for the purpose of defending church-state cases. The ACLJ was formed in 1990 with the mandate to protect your religious and constitutional freedoms. From the beginning, the ACLJ was committed to working to protect the American family. In addition to its religious liberties work, the ACLJ also specializes in constitutional law involving the issues of national security, human life, marriage, judicial nominations, pornography, and protecting patriotic _expression including our national motto and the Pledge of Allegiance.
The mission of the ACLJ is simple, described in these four points: The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is committed to insuring the ongoing viability of constitutional freedoms. By specializing in constitutional law, the ACLJ is dedicated to the concept that freedom and democracy are God-given inalienable rights that must be protected. The ACLJ engages in litigation, provides legal services, renders advice, counsels clients, provides education, and supports attorneys who are involved in defending the religious and civil liberties of Americans. As a non-profit organization, the ACLJ does not charge for its services and is dependent upon God and the resources He provides through the time, talent, and gifts of people who share our concerns and desire to protect our religious and constitutional freedoms.
